You are probably using a key management protocol that has the same encryption algorithm as a Windows registry key.
The default kerberos keytab requires that of the encrypted registry key also has the same encryption algorithm as used in the default krb5.ini. The same happens with the default Windows keytab. This is normally the case for Windows 6.2 and later.
When systems are upgraded to 6.3, the decryption algorithms in the registry are different so you don’t need to change the registry value. However, the encryption algorithm remains the same.
The regsvr32 command will not work for Windows 6.3. It needs a different way of getting a TGT from the Service Control Manager. It also needs different encryption algorithms. Microsoft do not make this easy for a scripted solution.
You can review these topics :
The registry keys for the default keytab was changed for Windows 7.
They have removed the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTunnelingKerberosParametersDecryptedRegistryKey and added the Credentials Provider name and the encryption function used (Credential) instead.
So the command for the script would now look like:
regsvr32 -v /u “%windir%system32cacls.exe”
regsvr32 /i “%windir%system32CredentialProviderkeytab.c”
Also note that you should specify the TGT keytab in the script.
